The front of the line is in sight

People continue to ask me if we have heard anything from China. I am grateful that they're asking, and praying, but we don't expect to hear anything for quite some time.

The great news for us is that the only people in front of us in line are those who sent in their request for adoption (dossier) between February 10 2006 and March 20, 2006. That seems like such a short window, and, indeed, it is, but China has been matching adoptive children with adopting parents at a rate of four to six days per month. Realistically, unless China speeds up to a pre-2006 pace, we will be matched to our Grace by May of 2009 with travel to get her taking place two months later.

We are praying for a faster time than this, of course, not just because we want Grace to be part of our family sooner rather than later, but because a wait past February of 2009 means having to redo our home study and fingerprinting a third (costly) time.

Thank you for joining with us in prayer!

Dear Pat & Sharon & Boys,

Thank you so much for the update and for your new blogspot.

At the EXACT moment that I received your note of this blogspot, my little miracle Chloe handed to me a picture she had just drawn of the Great Wall of China along with a little girl and a basket. Wow! Pretty cool! I was able to show Chloe the picture of Grace's room and tell her about her. Anyway, I have a friend in Florida who has two little girls she adopted from China. Chloe loves to see pictures of them and talks about them often. I can't wait till I can share Grace's picture with Chloe!

I pray often for you and for Grace.

Much love
